Helping to preserve our local history for future generations

Projects

When we have monies available, we will be launching projects to support the preservation of Old Brampton Church and its immediate surroundings.

One of our first is likely to be to endeavour to turn at least part of the graveyard into a wildlife area. We are seeking advice from the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust; a guidance document has been published by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust (copy here). Rest assured that the graveyard will not be left to look untidy, but will have arrange of Spring and Summer flowering plants. If you feel able to help with the funding for this project and/or for the ongoing maintenance, please contact us.

One longer term project we'd hoped to embark upon is to provide and improved entrance and access together with toilet facilities in Church.

Another project is to repair or replace our church organ.

However, our Church Heating system is ageing and we need to prepare for it's replacement. We've had an Energy Audit done to help us with initial planning. We have an old building which is very difficult to insulate compared with modern types of construction. Much of our central heating piping dates back over 100 years. We also need to be aware of the need to protect the fabric of the building by ensuring that it never gets too cold or damp.

An ongoing associated project is the Old Brampton ECO Community  - a public group for everyone interested in all things "ECO" in and around Old Brampton.
